Five new fashion trends to try this Summer
With Summer fast approaching, it is probably about time to update the wardrobe for the upcoming warmer weather. While the cooler and cold months force people to layer up, Summer gives a lot more freedom.
Much like a car getting a new paint job or an online game, a change in the wardrobe can be big or small, and can end up making a massive difference. Here are five trends to try this Summer.
Oversized boyfriend jackets
While these won’t necessarily be making an appearance on really hot days, oversized boyfriend jackets with large, puffy shoulder pads are mostly definitely in right now. Not only are there tons of colours to choose from, there are also multiple sizes and cuts to get as well.
There are two things to look for when picking out the jacket, number one, as the name suggests, it should be oversized, number two, it should have shoulder pads. While this look is very 1980’s almost, there are reasons for choosing a jacket with these two things.
The oversized jacket and shoulder pads broaden the shoulders slightly, and therefore cinches in the waist, the legs also end up looking more elongated, and therefore it creates a much more elegant look with something as simple as a jacket.
Utility wear
While most guys had utility wear when they were younger, unless they became the outdoorsy adventure type, they most probably grew out of it. However, utility wear is making a comeback, and it’s not only outdoor wear manufacturers making it.
Gone are the days where people would look like they are about to go camping, there are many brands and labels making utility wear now, in a multitude of colours and styles that can fit around every wardrobe and personal style.
A lot of buttons, zips, pockets, are not only all the rage right now, but actually end up being incredibly functional while still being incredibly stylish.
Head scarfs and face masks
A must-have accessory from the 50’s and 60’s, head scarfs have most definitely made a massive comeback in the world of women’s fashion. Hundreds and hundreds of colours and styles to choose from, they are a simple yet super stylish accessory.
Not only do they protect the hair, but they add a touch of elegance and class to any outfit, and can also be used as a neck scarf as well.
Considering you can get the scarfs in different colours, made from different materials and have different designs, you can get one for every outfit you can think of. A day out, lunch, a night out on the town, there is one for every occasion.
Obviously, with what is currently going on in the world, face masks becoming more fashion focussed was bound to happen, and currently, the trend is black face masks. Simple and sleek, they will match almost every outfit you wear.
Think of them like black purses, or sunglasses, while they are small, having the right one in the right colour makes all the difference and quickly becomes the perfect accessory.
Statement shirts and shorts
While many men go towards having a more neutral wardrobe, loud and colourful shirts and shorts have made a massive comeback. The classic Hawaiian shirt isn’t just the ridiculous outfit your dad would wear on holiday, it’s the shirt you should be rocking all through Summer.
While wearing colourful shirts and shorts together could clash a bit, they go perfectly with neutral colours. Wearing a bright, colourful shirt? Pair it with more neutral, simple shorts, and vice versa.
Summer is all about bold, bright colours in the world of fashion and having a couple of shirts and pairs of shorts that are colourful allows you to brighten up your wardrobe without going overboard, a mistake some tend to make.
Blue and yellow accessories
Every single season, there tends to be a certain colour of something that comes to the forefront, this Summer, it is blue accessories. Not just any blue either, bright blue, the trend is to add a bright pop of colour to your outfits.
What is great about this is that you don’t even have to change your monochrome outfits, all you’re doing is adding a bright blue bag, bangle, even hat. Simple yet very effective and will allow you to immediately stand out, even if the rest of your outfit is still very reserved.
Yellow is also fashionable right now, not to the same degree as blue, but yellow bags are most definitely trending right now. Once again, an accessory that can either match your outfit or be the complete opposite of it so it stands out, yellow bags have taken the catwalk and streets by storm this season.
As you can see, this coming Summer is another season of some really cool and fashionable trends. There is a great mix of small and simple, as well as big and loud, meaning there is something for everyone, no matter what you like or what you like to wear.
