Tri&Gull jewellery on Etsy
The ingeniously named Tri&Gull is a jewellery brand created by Sarah Clayton.
After graduating with a degree in architecture from Edinburgh, Sarah turned her hand to jewellery design and is using her degree experience to create vivid and inventive pieces.
Say the name Tri&Gull out loud and you will discover how appropriate a name it is. Her entire collection is crafted with triangles; whether it be earrings or necklaces, the foundation of each piece is based around this shape.
“I think my architectural background contributed to my love of bold geometric shapes, hence the triangular theme of my jewellery range,” said Sarah about her collection.
It’s not just the shape of each piece that makes Tri&Gull so appealing, it’s the beautiful use of colour. The shades are fairly neutral, but the tones that Sarah does use are feminine and pretty, a theme that is a direct contrast to the harsh, angular nature of her pieces.
Her choice of materials also adds to the charm of her collection: “I began making jewellery as soon as I graduated, beginning with the laser cut acrylic, using the skills I had learnt during my degree.
“I soon branched out to other materials such as plywood, leather and polymer clay. I started out by using materials left over from my degree (the acrylic and plywood), and like to use reclaimed or recycled materials where possible.”
The aesthetic of Tri&Gull is playful and pretty; it is striking but wearable and not too expensive either!
