Katrantzou X Longchamp
Mary Katrantzou is one of London’s brightest new fashion talents and won the Emerging Talent – Ready-to-Wear award at the British Fashion Awards in November. She started her journey as a designer by studying at the Rhode Island School of Design, before going on to complete both her BA and MA at Central Saint Martins. Katrantzou’s talents led her to work for Sophia Kokosalaki, amongst other designers. Now established, her fan-base includes model Alexa Chung, who is well known for her quirky choice of clothing.
London-based Katrantzou has now collaborated with Longchamp, the well-known French label, to create a collection of Eastern-influenced handbags that are very appealing to the eye.
These one-of-a-kind handbags were created with the vision, ‘When East meets West’, using Eastern-inspired motifs such as orchids and paper lanterns to great effect. This exclusive collection will be available at Parisian boutique Colette, which offers international shipping on its website, here.
Longchamp is not the only collaboration that Katrantzou has under her belt, however. In February of this year, her 14-piece collection of dresses for British high-street retailer Topshop will be released. This collection consists of Katrantzou’s signature prints, a flash of colour and a hint of perfection. Our favourite piece from this collection is the beautiful ‘Pheasant Dream’ dress, which uses contrasting prints and colours to create an individual look.
Mary Katrantzou says the next step for her label is to create a new website. You can check it out by clicking here.
