Loulou Loves You: And we love her too!

One day, Loulou Androlia was giving her room a spring clean and came across 80 pairs of knickers that she owned. It was then she thought she should probably start making them herself, and in 2007, a London-based lingerie and accessory brand was born.

About 10 years ago, Loulou started out studying Fine Art at university but sadly had to withdraw due to long-term illness. After recovering a few years later, she began both studying and working again to continue the path she originally left. It was during that time she wanted to become more skill-based and started some creative classes for pattern-cutting and dressmaking. She instantly fell in love with it.  After discovering the underwear she had been hording, she settled on lingerie as her way forward. Loulou took a course at the Kensington and Chelsea College and with the support of a brilliant tutor she followed her studying by starting up Loulou Loves You.

Since then, the brand has blossomed into a cute and endearing company. The collections Loulou have designed are elegant, from ‘Lily’ which is sexy with frills and suspender briefs but yet still outstandingly pretty with the use of light pink and white silk details, to ‘Lux’ with high-waisted polka-dot knickers and a lace bikini bra (perfect for this season, might I add!).

Inspiration for her pieces came from Disney and what the heroines wear under their fantasy dresses: “I was watching 101 Dalmatians whilst I was making ‘Lydia’, and ‘Lux’ was designed with a grown up Alice [in Wonderland] in mind.”

Other inspirations include superheroes as well as all the things we love too: holding hands, desserts and unexpected luxuries.  She likes to use the term “sexy sleepover” to reflect the brand as well as her mood. 

With bows being in fashion since forever, they are a recurring feature within the online collections, and to her they are a match made in heaven and have never gone out of fashion for her designs. We agree. Loulou’s favourite type of bow is tied round a cute shirt collar, and even if they aren’t feminine, they totally do it for her – this includes a handsome man with a bow tie. Could she be anymore adorable?

The ‘Bow’ and ‘Loulou’ collections were the first that Loulou worked on, and these have now blossomed into a whole host of stunning collars, multi-purpose necklaces, underwear pieces and wedding accessories. Each item is made by hand too, giving that extra special touch.

After being ill, Loulou became conscious of being behind in her career development and completely threw herself into it. Rather than the brand being a fashion statement, Loulou uses her work as a creative outlet allowing her to constantly learn new skills and simply continue doing what she loves.
