LFW – Michael van der Ham AW 2012 collection
Set in the wonderful Old Billingsgate Topshop show space venue, Michael Van De Ham displayed next season’s collection in true style. Michael drew inspiration for his designs from a diverse range of evening wear and home knits from the thirties. Models displayed gentle curls in their hair by Luke Herseheson and gold glitter eye shadow streaking by Lauren Parsons at Premier and the MAC Pro Team for a chic 1930’s glam look.
The collection sought a range of drapes and pleats built from uncommerical luxe materials ranging from silk and metallic wool boucle to metallic lace and printed raza organza. Structural designs of the pieces were unique, with texture and positioning making the garments intriguing and exciting. Quilted skirts and contrasting wave-like patterns were displayed on dresses, as well as there being an introduction to jumpsuits, knitwear and boucle jumpers. The colour story ranged from gold, rust and metallics through to navy, coral and turquoise which developed a pleasing anecdote to the eye.
We cannot forget to mention the shoes, which were custom produced by Christian Louboutin using a similar theme of metallics to create masterpieces.
