LFW – Raffaele Ascione AW 2012 collection
Italian designer Raffaele Ascione well and truly deserved his place to debut his solo Autumn/Winter 2012-13 collection at the Vauxhall Fashion Scout. Beginning his presentation was a video began telling the story of ideas behind the collection before viewers were revealed an intimate and close up preview of his design. Models worked a small area individually, giving viewers a chance to observe intermit detailing of the garments from three separate angles.
Using the shapes from basketball jerseys and mixing them with a ‘studio 54’ feel, Raffaele has managed to use inspirational women from his life experiences. Makeup by the Body Shop featured streaks of red eye shadow around the eyes and glossy red lipstick. Hair by Toni & Guy complimented the tones with slick centre lines and looped ponytails complete with black hair ties. The collection saw layers of flared trousers and halter-necks, sheer black overlays and lace detailing. Long shapes took form throughout the whole collection as well as a sporty element being added through huge hooped earrings. Additional accessories in the form of bags were a stand out point for the collection, with one particular design featuring what looked like a rug, shaped perfectly into an oversized clutch, with of course tassel extras. Blacks and red prevailed the whole collection but splashes of sky blue and beige broke up and added extra sophistication to the garments.
This collection was delightfully surprising, Raffaele certainly shone through and we cannot wait to see what he has in store for us next.
