Women’s Day special dinner at Cantina Del Ponte
As part of International Women’s Day, Italian restaurant Cantina del Ponte will be celebrating in style and hosting La Festa Della Donna event on the 8th March, in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care’s Great Daffodil Appeal.
International Women’s Day takes place every year on the 8th March to honour the many achievements of women across the world. In Italy, it is better known as La Festa Della Donna. Traditionally on this day, men will give yellow flowers (usually mimosas) to the important women in their life as a sign of appreciation and love.
Guests attending the event will be treated to three courses from a special menu created by head chef Claudio Gottardo, served in relaxed surroundings by the riverside. The dishes chosen reflect the ethos of Italian cuisine; good produce cooked simply such as Bocconcino di Capra con Confettura al Peperoncino e Foccacia al Rosmarino (warm goats’ cheese with chilli jam and homemade foccacia) and Tagliolini al salmone e fiori di zucchina (tagliolini pasta with salmon and courgette flowers). Prosecco will be served upon arrival (by topless waiters, no less!) and selected wines from the Abruzzo region will accompany dinner. In addition to dessert, guests will also have the opportunity to sample another beloved Festa Della Donna tradition, Torta Mimosa (literally “mimosa cake” – light sponge cake filled with liqueur flavoured chantilly cream).
Tickets for this event are £50 per person, which includes a donation to Marie Curie Cancer Care. To round the evening off, a charity auction will take place with enticing prizes up for grabs, such as a dinner safari, a burlesque lesson and a cookery masterclass! Guests can look forward to a fun and lively night out at Cantina del Ponte whilst championing an important and worthy cause.
The Great Daffodil Appeal is Marie Curie Cancer Care’s largest fundraising and awareness campaign. By making a donation and choosing to wear a daffodil this March, Marie Curie Cancer Care can continue to provide free care to people with terminal cancer and other illnesses.
