Some furniture brands are quite boring and purely practical; the chairs and wardrobes seem as if they have been around forever. Jimmie Martin’s luxury furniture brand is not one of these; it celebrates one-off pieces and combines decadence with quirkiness and urban nostalgia.

The furniture brand was launched in 2004 and the key to its continuing success is consistency with a twist of stylish sophistication as well as a modern edge.

The chairs in the collection take advantage of classic designs with unique upholstery; they appear to be influenced by the British punk movement and American pop art scene. One of our favourites is a traditional French Louis XIV style armchair; the frame has been painted in gloss black allowing it to really gleam. The seat has been upholstered in black leather that highlights the paint and makes the whole piece feel very shiny. The chair is turned into an artist’s canvas with the words “I used to be blue”, which makes it feel rock ‘n’ roll rather than princess-like. Two words: crazy cabinets! The collection of cabinets is bold, big and makes a statement. Union Jacks dominate and adorn the front of many rooms and boutiques. Today we bring to you this copper cocktail cabinet with a silver-leafed Union Jack; the style and metallic finish create decadence and remind us of French court, the spray paint finish however, screams revolution. From quirky cabinets to wonderful wardrobes, it is all about splendid storage here! The wardrobes in the collection offer something a little different with several pieces being designed for Liberty’s collection. Here the designers have embraced flowers presented in traditional ornate garden flower pots, maybe an influence of Jan Brueghel or German renaissance painters. Although when you explore further you notice almost a tattooing affect, we urge you to look for yourselves!

From French revolution and British pop art we now move on to an influence of Baroque! The entire world of art history seems to have influenced these pieces. I am, of course, referring to the Baroque inspired beds. Being Baroque in style, these beds create drama, tension, exuberance and grandeur; nobody would deny that these are definitely statement bedroom pieces.
