Spring into summer: five new fresh fragrances
Spring is definitely in the air – we’ve had some unseasonably hot weather. Considering how temperamental British weather, we better enjoy it while it lasts!
Warmer weather means it’s time to change up your perfume to reflect the change in season. The go-to scents for springtime should be light, fresh and floral scents, so you feel bright and summery even if you’re stuck at work!
Here are my favourite newly released spring fragrances, perfect for the coming months. I guarantee that you’ll love them well after summer is over!
Chloé – L’Eau de Chloé
L’Eau de Chloé is the brand new eau de toilette created by Michel Almairac, creator of Chloé’s popular signature scent, it consists of distilled rosewater, patchouli and citrus notes giving it a sweet but light scent. From its beautiful grass green packaging with pistachio-coloured ribbon to its soft delicate fresh fragrance, it’s springtime in a bottle.
From £36.50 for 30ml.
Jo Malone – White Lilac & Rhubarb Cologne
This new cologne is part of Jo Malone’s limited edition London Bloom’s collection, a gorgeously scented trio inspired by British gardens. Artist and gardener Heather Mauders was commissioned to create beautifully botanical illustrations for the bottles, each finished with a decorative ribbon, a stark contrast to the usual muted palette and simple packaging evocative of Jo Malone. White Lilac & Rhubarb is a deliciously floral fragrance, perfect for romantic dates on cool summer nights.
£72 for 100ml. Available from March 2012 for a limited time only.
Marc Jacobs – Daisy Eau So Fresh
Marc Jacobs’ Daisy Eau So Fresh has top-notes of grapefruit, raspberry and green leaf giving it a sweet and summery scent, making it the perfect holiday fragrance this year. And specially for 2012, Jacobs has made the packaging super travel-friendly by launching the Daisy Petit Flower – a small plastic daisy with a glass bubble of perfume in the middle. It’s virtually unbreakable, so no chance of explosions in your suitcase – perfect!
£25 for 20ml. Available from 4th April.
Burberry – Body
Summer requires lighter and less overpowering scents and that’s exactly why Burberry Body has been released as a body mist for 2012. A light, alcohol-free spray infused with the original fragrance – and the packaging is stunning!
£33 for 60ml.
Gucci – The Flora Garden Collection
If you’re a fan of Gucci’s classic Flora fragrance, you’ll love The Flora Garden Collection which features five fragrances, each inspired by a different bloom from the original Flora print. each a different coloured liquid, the pretty fragrances come in Gucci’s signature hexagonal bottles, and include Gorgeous Gardenia, Gracious Tuberose and Glamorous Magnolia and exclusive to Gucci stores, Generous Violet and Glorious Mandarin. Gracious Tuberose is a feminine scent, featuring notes of rose, African orange flower, peach and violet leaf.
