Molly Ginnelly Jewellery: a contemporary collaboration
Molly Ginnelly is a modern contemporary jeweller that specialises in silversmithing and mixed media jewellery design.
Her company, Molly Ginnelly Jewellery, started out as a line of jewellery featuring modern, and classic contemporary design. Some pieces of the line look like mini sculptures of what you would envision in the houses and on the lawns of some of today’s biggest modern art collectors!
The line has since expanded, and she now incorporates other forms of media and design. After connecting through friends of friends on social media sites, paper artist Charlie Trimm and Molly Ginnelly decided to collaborate on a line forming the perfect union of contemporary looks and whimsical paper art, thus creating a truly unique and magical look. These pieces are laser cut to achieve the beauty and intricacy of the branchy patterns and double layered looks, showing depth by using contrasting colours. This pairing has proved to be the most popular, and a top seller.
Molly Ginnelly is currently studying at Carnegie College Dunfermline, and is still in her early stages of a career as a jeweller. She has found a unique balance in her work by combining the extremely diverse looks of contemporary vs. paper art. Her pieces can be found at the Royal Glasgow Institute Kelly Gallery, the Number Four Gallery (Berwick Upon Tweed),Culross Pottery and Gallery (Culross), Peter Potter Gallery, and on Folksy.
