The Heartbreaks on a bus near you this Saturday

The Heartbreaks celebrate the limited early release of white vinyl copies of their debut album Funtimes with a chance for fans to join the band on Record Store Day this Saturday.

From early in the morning on 21st April, the band will be touring participating record shops in London on their very own double decker bus. Stopping off along the way to play acoustic sets and hand out special Heartbreaks goody bags, the band will also invite fans onto the bus to tour London with them and get into the spirit of the day.

Matthew Whitehouse, Joseph Kondras, Ryan Wallace and Chris Deaks Deakin of Lancashire band, The Heartbreaks

You can follow where they’ll be heading from Saturday morning on the band’s  Twitter and Facebook page. They’ll be on the road bright and early, as queues form, so don’t miss out on a chance to say hello.

The Heartbreaks precede the release of Funtimes with single Delay, Delay on 30th April. The full release of Funtimes follows on 7th May.

Record Store Day began in 2007 when over 700 independent stores in the USA came together to celebrate music. The UK followed suit and 2012 will be the fourth celebration of the UK’s unique independent sector.

This is the day that independently owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art of music. Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day, and hundreds of artists across the globe make special appearances and performances. Festivities include performances, meet-and-greets with artists, DJs, in-store quizzes and many other events.

“Record Store Day has now become an established part of the music calendar,” said Record Store Day coordinator Spencer Hickman of Rough Trade Records. “And what makes it special is the character and individuality of record stores. There’s nothing to beat the enthusiasm and atmosphere of a great record shop!”

“As a music retailer I have to say, for me, Record Store Day is the most exciting event of the whole year,” says Paul Quirk, Chairman of the Entertainment Retailers Association. “I cannot believe how it has grown over the last few years and also how the retailers and the public have embraced it. Each year it moves up another level and I am sure 2012 will be the best ever.”

There are currently 206 independent record shops participating in Record Store Day (197 in the UK and nine in Ireland).
