The FiFi Awards 2012

The FiFi Awards 2012

The stars came out for the FiFi Awards ceremony this week, which took place at The Brewery, London. Kanye West and his new love Kim Kardashian were in attendance, ahead of the launch of Kim’s fragrance True Reflection.  Kanye West, Kim Kardashian and Richard E Grant were amongst the guests at Thursday night’s UK FiFi Awards ceremony.

The black tie event was hosted by TV presenter George Lamb who joked we were the “best smelling audience” he had ever come across.  The awards, referred to as “The Oscars” for the fragrance industry, aims to celebrate the achievements of the best-selling scents in the industry. The black tie event was attended by over 500 guests to commend the most popular fragrances released to the UK market.

The chairman of Fragrance Foundation UK, Peter Norman, said that although retail hadn’t enjoyed a particularly lucrative year, perfume sales were still respectable. Guests could also vote during the event; Thierry Mugler’s classic fragrance Angel received the highest votes, entering into the hall of fame which recognises the best classic fragrances that have been in the market for 15 years or more.

The awards categories included best new female and male fragrance, best new fragrance commercial and best new celebrity fragrance, which saw 18-year-old pop sensation Justin Bieber take the gong, after selling a record $3 million worth of his fragrance Someday in a matter of three weeks.

Boyband/manband Blue provided the entertainment for the night, playing out a string of their greatest hits, ahead of their comeback set for this year.
