Discover bird on the wire: a new jewellery collection by Emma Guest
The rise to jewellery designer stardom didn’t take long for Emma Guest. Working as a journalist for several national fashion and women’s magazines, she started creating charm and beaded bracelets and accessories, which she wore to work. These designs were quickly coveted by her fashionable colleagues and soon a fashion editor from Elle featured Emma’s signature Fish bracelet in the magazine, launching Emma Guest’s costume jewellery label, Lily the Pink.
Lily the Pink ran from 2001 to 2009, with designs sold through Liberty of London, The Natural History Museum Shop, Brown’s Focus, and several other independent galleries throughout the UK.
It’s been a while and now Emma Guest is back with her latest jewellery venture, Emma Guest Jewellery. This new brand features the popular bird on the wire collection. This collection is inspired from paper cut silhouettes and Victorian optical and kinetic toys. Each piece is hand-crafted by Emma, and sits perfectly on the body. “My jewellery is playful and kinetic and only truly comes to life when being worn — birds bob on their t-bar branches, stars shimmer from between fine chain, creating elegant pieces that move with the wearer.”
For the necklaces, the small bird bobs on the perch of the unique t-bar clasp, while the larger bird spins in its hoop “cage”. Made from hallmarked sterling silver and featuring acrylic birds, it features two colour choices: silver and red, or gold and black. Not only is it a beautiful statement piece, it can double as a window ornament!
This playful collection focuses on simplicity and movement. You can choose from brooches, necklaces and earrings ranging from £36 upwards.
