A summer affair – hop, spit, and rump at the London Fields

If you go down to the Fields today you’re in for a big surprise – or at least you will be if you visit the verdant pastures of London Fields on any given Saturday and Sunday throughout the summer.

The Dead Dolls Club, who have paired up with London Fields Brewery for the summer, have cracked the secret to making people happy: bring them free beer (and ice). All that was needed to make the whole of London Fields a happier place was a big bucket, boatloads of ices, and a couple of crates of their very own brews brought out for a summer airing. The appreciative crowds dove in for a taste and if you’ve got the good sense to follow DDC on Twitter (here) you might be in the right place at the right time next week. If not, the Brewery itself is just a short stumble away from The Fields.

The craft brewers, located underneath a railway arch in the pumping heart of Hackney, have invited food-pushers The Dead Clubs along to play in their garden for the whole summer. The guys will be spit-roasting whole baby pigs in the space-age “cooking-machine” which looks exactly like something that would be used to cook a whole pig, funnily enough. There are going be bands and DJs and all sorts of other entertainments every weekend throughout the summer. It’s set to be like one big happy family barbeque with the whole of Hackney and a non-stop bar too.

If you’re convinced that LFB is the place to be this summer (which you should be) then this Jubilee weekend is set to be a promising one; there are even seats inside if the English summer rains decide to pay a visit.  Surely the Queen would appreciate you joining celebrations in true English style with ale and a wet BBQ!
