Welcome to the world of doodles!
Admit it. We all doodle – whether we are having a dull conversation via the phone with someone or during a boring office meeting – but how many of us actually go on to make a living out of this? It would possibly be a very small handful to say the least.
One such lucky star is Carrie Lewis. She creates ‘doodles’ for all purposes including fabrics, logos, cards and now her own range of doodle-inspired jewellery, conveniently called ‘Doodllery’.
“You’ll find oodles of doodles scattered around my website. I just can’t help myself! Any scrap of paper is just waiting to be scribbled on and brought to life with a little scene of cute creations” is how Carrie describes her work.
She continues to explain: “like most doodles, mine all came about without me even noticing. They crept up on unsuspecting bits of paper unannounced and, before I would realise it, I would have scribbled something down on the corner of a newspaper, the back of my hand or a tabletop. After a few nice words from a few nice people, I started to doodle with purpose – and I haven’t stopped since.”
This designer, who is only 29 years old, is absolutely young at heart and has some divine creations, such as this wedding card. What makes it delightful is that if you contact Carrie beforehand you can get it personalised with your friends’ names, including some modified doodle characters to have your friends in fits of laughter. But most importantly, your friends will love you for the extra effort you put in.
This overnight bag with Carrie’s doodle called Moomin on it is exceptional as the front is colourful and covered with all of his friends, whilst the back has him in the rain under an umbrella. With such an original concept, £52 is worth every penny.
Carrie’s Doodllery jewellery characters are made from brightly coloured acrylic. They are all full of life and personality. The one shown here, entitled “Megabeast” was inspired by her sister. Need I say more?
Carrie’s creations allow you to be individual with one-of-a-kind business cards designed with your logo on it doodled by her. It is better than trying to figure it out by yourself. Her illustrative work also ensures she can cater to the clothing industry by creating designer labels and shop banners.
You can buy most of Carrie’s products online via her online shop here. Go and visit Carrie Lewis’ fuzzy little ink splat side of the Internet, you won’t know what you’re missing out on! Off to the land of doodles it is then!
