Handwritten: Fresh, feminine and eco-friendly
Handwritten is a modern luxe women’s clothing company designed by Tanya Sarne. You may be familiar with Tanya Sarne and her hugely successful celebrity touted line, Ghost. Since selling Ghost, Sarne is out with a new must-have collection, Handwritten.
“She just makes clothes that people want to wear.” Grace Coddington, Fashion Director of American Vogue said. “The line is all about the modern woman – retaining her femininity, sensuality and confidence. It’s about design that meets practical needs, that’s both wearable and easy to maintain.”
With a muted colour palette and extreme wearability, the Handwritten line is perfect for women on the go, making the transition from day to night as easy as pie.
Sarne uses a super-secret production process to develop her one-of-a-kind fabrics. The process was perfected over her years at Ghost making her clothes more personal, even “handwritten”. The clothes are based on viscose, a fabric derived from wood, mixed with cotton and silk. The line is completely biodegradable, and can be washed, eliminating the need for dry cleaning and harsh chemicals, which are bad for both the planet and for our skin. Sarne stated that “our fabrics have to be felt to be understood, and tried to be believed”.
Companies like Handwritten are changing our views on “bio-degradable fashions”, throwing out old ideas of tie-dye t-shirts and woven hemp bracelets. You can now get beautiful, trendy pieces that are earth-friendly, but don’t look it. The collection is filled with beautiful high-end dresses, tops, jackets, skirts and trousers and prices range from £25 – £120. Sarne says: “I design to de-stress and give women confidence in their femininity and daily lives.”
