Would you pay £8,440 for a face cream?
Japanese beauty giant Shiseido will sell the most expensive face cream ever made to mark the 30th anniversary of the brand’s most luxurious beauty product line, Cle de Peau Beaute.
The extremely lavish limited edition ‘La Creme’ will retail at a whopping £8,440 for a 50g jar and claims to lift and tighten skin through powerful anti-aging properties.
Each jar has been handcrafted by French designer Olivier Severe and will be presented in an exquisite container made of crystal and platinum. Only three jars of the stuff will be produced, which at £169 per gram is more expensive than gold!
“We do not usually make limited editions of our products, but this is to mark a special occasion for the Cle de Peau Beaute line,” said Megumi Kinukawa, Shiseido’s company representative. “We hope it will appeal to our loyal customers and people who are interested in gorgeous brands.”
Actress Amanda Seyfried unveiled the luxury cream, which is due to be released on 21st September, 2012.
The company said on its website: “As the exciting embodiment of luminous sophistication and natural radiance, Amanda Seyfried captures the very essence of Cle de Peau Beaute. She is pure of heart, vibrantly alive, and brings joy to the lives of others.”
Shiseido will be taking orders for the three jars at its flagship Tokyo store in the Ginza district from 30th August, and if there are more than three orders, a draw will be held.
Shiseido is Japan’s largest cosmetics company, achieving annual global sales over £5 billion.
So, would you ever consider forking out £8,440 for a face cream?
