Must-see concerts of the week
There are not much better things to be doing than going to a live venue and seeing some of music’s most talented people. So dig into your pockets and get out there, here are a few incredible gigs to check out this week!
Marc Almond – Mon 9th at 02 Shepherd’s Bush Empire
Marc Almond from former pop duo Soft Cell hits the 02 Empire on July 9th to celebrate his 55th birthday by filling the room with the wavering voice of his sprawling career – electro-dance pop to his cabaret styling. Accompanied by an entourage of strings and brass; prepare to relive the ages of Marc Almond.

Incubus – Mon 9th at 02 Brixton Academies
The iconic alt-metal band Incubus, headed by poster rocker Brandon Boyd, is sure to have the crowds screaming over the classic 90s tracks and the newer, broader music the Californians will be belting out. Promoting their latest album, and the seventh in their back catalogue If Not now, When? Incubus know how to put on a show.

Futures – Tues 10th at London XOYO
Back in 2010, these guys self-released a mini album in an issue of Rock Sounds that led to it being the biggest selling issue of the magazine in two years! Their sound is punk-rock indie, it’s uplifting, it’s fun and it’s awesome. They dropped from Mercury label to release their 2012 album The Karma Album on their own label Indigo Records as they were having none of the restrictions the previous label put on them. These guys have balls, and their music rocks!

Queen with Adam Lambert – Wed 11th, Thurs 12th & Sat 14th at Hammersmith Apollo
Brian May and Roger Taylor team up with Adam Lambert, a runner up from American Idol (yes, that’s right!), are going to be performing Queen classics for three nights this week! It’s not often you get to see the likes of May and Taylor performing in front of your own eyes, and it takes a strong will to resist the pure genius of tracks such as We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions. Adam Lambert is said to be a fantastic Freddie Mercury step-in, outrageous outfits included.

Maverick Sabre – Thurs 12th at St Pancras Renaissance Hotel
Hackney lad Maverick Sabre is multi-talented and able to produce eclectic multi-genre music, releasing his popular debut album Lonely Are The Brave. Maverick’s soft and eerie vocals make for an intriguing folk side of his genre-bending music; his rapping is concise and his track Run to the Roof proves his talent, and even breaks into soulful interludes that showcase the breadth of Maverick Sabre’s music. This event is FREE, people; there are no excuses not to check this out!
Wu Legends – Fri 13th at Kentish Town HMV Forum
Now this is a treat for hip-hop and rap lovers out there, four of the ground-breaking and infamous Wu Tang Clan; GZA, Raekwon, Method Man and Ghostface Killah are uniting at HMV Forum this Friday. This rare occasion will have the four legendary hip-hop stars perform their solo tracks and comE together to create the powerful sounds of the Wu Tang Clan. This rare performance is a winner, letting all of London know that Wu Tang Clan ain’t Nuthin Ta F’ Wit!

Hard Rock Calling – Fri 13th to Sun 15th at Hyde Park
This City festival fills the usual tranquil and breezy air of Hyde Park with the raucous guitar shreds and thumping drum solos every year, and this year’s line-up does not look to disappoint! Expect to see: Soundgarden, Iggy and the Stooges, Bruce Springsteen, John Fogerty, Amy Macdonald, Kids in Glass Houses and many more! Reggae legend Jimmy Cliff is appearing, which will make for an unforgettable performance!

Summer Series: The Enemy – Sat 13th at Somerset House
Summer Series at Somerset House has been providing music all week; this Saturday is the chance to see English rockers The Enemy! Their new album of 2012 ,Streets in the Sky, has been long coming since their previous LP in 2009, and the boys are back in full force. Playing their new album and their much-loved classics such as Away From Here, it’s going to be a blinder!
