Karl Lagerfeld gets in the spirit of the games with his Olympic-inspired collection
Chanel’s creative director Karl Lagerfeld has unveiled his plans to launch his own Olympic-inspired collection ahead of the games. The pop-up shop will be launched in Selfridges in the host city of London on 24th July.
We don’t expect to see a collection of shell suits from the designer; the collection entitled Team Karl is said to include Olympic sports-related apparel and accessories, including limited edition tees with illustrations of Lagerfeld wearing his signature black suit and white shirt combo, in a sequence of poses representing the various sports represented during the games.
The pop-up store will be situated on the 3rd floor of the department store, where he already has a dedicated space, and will also feature in his very own window displays. A private cocktail party will be held to mark the launch, and Karl himself will be in town to join in the celebrations.
The designer will also launch a new space dedicated to his Karl line, which came out earlier this year and has become a huge success.
Selfridges will also be debuting his new premium line, Karl Lagerfeld Paris Man. After Team Karl, Selfridges will exclusively begin selling the second season of Lagerfeld’s Karl line.
Team Karl joins some of fashion’s biggest names with his Olympic representation including Stella McCartney who designed the official kit for GB with her collaboration with adidas, Ralph Lauren for Team USA and EA7 Emporio Armani for Team Italy.
