Chanel pop-up beauty store opens in Covent Garden
Adding to the plethora of interesting new additions in Covent Garden, the Chanel beauty store hosted its opening party yesterday with the chicest of all mime artists and parked taxicabs in Le Vernis summer shades.
The store will remain open for the next seven months launching various exclusive events and products over time, not to mention a rumoured treasure hunt taking place in September and a temporary return to the local tradition of the flower stall.
The space inside includes a Chanel nail bar and an area downstairs for facials and other treatments, and will apparently be housing “the world’s leading make-up artists, nail technicians, theatrical artists and stylists” during its time here.
The summery atmosphere luckily coincided with the weather; the store’s day lit and mirrored interior gives a fresher and more vibrant atmosphere than the usual department store locations.
The shop-fit is quite a triumph, shiny and new and boasting lipstick flowers, light-boxes full of dainty nail varnish bottles and pink interlocking C’s in the window.
Get down to the Old Covent Garden Market to see for yourself, and while you’re there don’t forget to check out the other limited edition delights the area has to offer, namely the Opening Ceremony pop-up shop, the first of its kind in Europe, on King Street and the Olympically themed H&M Sport in St Martins Courtyard.
