Menswear: Ten pieces your wardrobe needs
With so much choice on the high street, sometimes keeping up is near impossible. So this week The Upcoming have done the leg work for you and hunted through our favourite labels and stores to find out what’s new this week. We’ve picked out the hottest new trends and key season pieces that will make up a capsule wardrobe if you feel like a new look, or just pick out one or two items to update your style.
This Paul Smith shirt with hound’s tooth pattern is ideal for any occasion. The oxford style looks great with jeans whilst still being smart enough to wear under a suit if you’re tired of plain dress shirts.
Ted Baker is known for its bold use of colour in clothes and even footwear. The brick red leather brings these brogues right up to date as autumnal hues and British heritage styles are right on trend.
We can’t pretend it’s not happening; the temperatures are dropping. This leather flight jacket by Superdry lined with faux sheepskin looks great now, but it will look even better with wear as the leather distresses.
All Saints have branched out of their usual palette of cityscape greys and have been influenced by autumn colours with these burgundy corduroy jeans. The homespun fabric is great teamed with knitwear and tweed, as the season progresses.
Chelsea boots are timeless. They are an item that will be a wardrobe staple year in, year out. Ask the Missus at Office have given this pair a distressed toe look on the rust-brown suede.
Sometimes guys need a bag too. If you’re not a backpack kind of guy and an office worthy briefcase or satchel is too smart, then this weekend bag is for you. Chapman’s twill bag in navy offers style and durability with leather detailing and handles.
Don’t get caught out in the cold; get yourself this waxed moleskin jacket from Reiss. The fabric in a tobacco colour makes this coat stand out from the usual browns, blacks and navy of the coat world.
Hang on to a part of summer with this floral printed shirt from River Island, guaranteed to brighten your day. If you’re feeling daring, this is a great print to mismatch against a tweed jacket. The key is to stick with a similar, but slightly darker colour palette.
Topman are a high street favourite for a reason: just because you always need a good shaped jean in your wardrobe. Their slim leg jeans in a dark wash have a slight distressed look without looking worn, and the turn-ups are a nod to retro style that’s key this season.
This watch is bold yet minimalist. Extra dials and chronograph watches are great, but sometimes knowing the time and date is all you need in your day. We love this TSOVET watch at Harvey Nichols for its simple black and white face and gold frame.
