Womenswear: ten pieces your wardrobe needs
Choice is great but you can definitely have too much of a good thing. The high street is filled with stores who are getting new pieces on a weekly basis, which makes keeping on top of new items quite challenging for fashionistas. This week, The Upcoming have haunted our favourite stores to discover what is hot and have formed the perfect capsule wardrobe for the A/W season.
Why not start with beauty? They may be small but our nails say a lot. YSL’s new collection of Autumn Look La Laque Couture offers a range of autumnal shades to compliment the new fashion season. Our favourite is the vampy rouge impressionniste.
YSL: £18
Who doesn’t love a chunky knit? This over-sized cardigan with a Navajo style design is big enough to wrap around yourself twice. Forget boyfriend fit, this one is big enough for you and him.
Monki: £50
This necklace is a perfect combination of three mini trends. The bib style with chunky embellishment in an art deco design will transform even a plain shirt into a super chic look.
Accessorize: £20
We love the colour of these leather gloves with python skin effect from ASOS. The pop of teal blue is a perfect shade to compliment oranges and ochre rather than opting for brown or black leather.
ASOS: £22
Mod style has a timeless chic quality that lends itself perfectly to these round-lense sunglasses. Feel like Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s and hang on to the summer in these retro style shades by Cutler and Gross.
Culter and Gross at Selfridges: £245
The minimalist trend this A/W is embodied in this simple double-buttoned blazer from French Connection. The sunshine yellow colour will brighten up your day and outfit instantly, what’s not to love?
French Connection: £160
Ted Baker has taken inspiration from vintage styles for this mock-croc skin bag. The 30s style shape is brought bang up to date with an added long shoulder strap and gold detail.
Ted Baker: £249
Leather is sure to be a big trend this autumn but if you’re not quite ready for a full leather dress or restricting pencil skirt, we suggest these evocative knee-high boots with suede panels.
Topshop: £100
We love this silk and cotton mix scarf by Vivienne Westwood. The abstract print in earthy tones is complimented by lilac baroque patterns and contrasted by lime green corners. Viv never was one for minimalist.
Vivienne Westwood at Harvey Nichols: £160
This dress has a bit of everything going on. The chiffon pleated skirt is contrasted with gold studs and pu structured straps. The cut out shapes with mesh panelling makes it a little cheeky too.
Warehouse: £75
