Jane Gowans to feature at this year’s International Jewellery London exhibition

When you’re asked to feature at a large event that allows people to find out about the latest trends, you know that your work is trend-setting. 

Jane Gowans, a contemporary jeweller established in 2010, has been invited by Weston Beamor to exhibit a selection of jewellery from their Geology Rocks collection at the International Jewellery London exhibition. 

Jane launched her label after graduating in 2009 and by 2011 Jane’s signature minimal and tactile style gained her solid recognition with several UK stockists. She has honed, explored and revelled in her craft, which led her to launch the collection this year at an exhibit in Edinburgh. 

When asked to summarise her collection in her own words, she responded: “I love employing the combination of traditional hand skills and cutting edge processes within my work. This shines through in the quality, craftsmanship and even the aesthetic of Geology Rocks. These pieces balance refinement and luxury with a stylish and compelling edge.” 

She has a fascination for making the ordinary, extraordinary. Jane was inspired by naturally occurring rock structures. She explored the use of form and texture, focusing on organic sequences and repetition. Fragmental forms of stalagmite studs morph into the grand structures of the Basalt Cocktail Ring and the amazing Tectonic Bangle. Garnet and peridot softly glow from their structured settings. Jane uses the highest quality materials in her work, each piece made in the UK and finished by Jane herself in her Dundee studio.
