Trinkets and treasures from Aurora Bloom
When you look inside a vintage jewellery box does it seem like a little treasure trove to you? At Aurora Bloom they sell the perfect bounty to fill up your jewellery box.
Aurora Bloom was created by Raye McKown in 2005. Raye originally started off by knitting items to sell at craft fairs and markets, she now sells jewellery and accessories in a number of small boutiques and on-line shops.
This label is passionate about what they produce and make all their products by hand, to the highest standards. Raye always keeps her customers in mind when designing one of her items.
Most designers are inspired by a number of things when they create their pieces. Raye told us what inspires her, “I love vintage style accessories and enjoy mooching around markets, collectors fairs etc. looking for ideas. There’s a fabulous Costume Museum in Manchester which houses ever changing displays of clothing throughout the ages and they also have a fantastic collection of buttons. I get inspired by the beautiful textiles and colourways used in the clothing. I’m working on some ideas to use fabric, old lace etc. in my jewellery and I’m also hoping to bring out a range of fabric cards shortly.”
With autumn/winter slowly drawing in it is definitely worth checking out Aurora Bloom’s crocheted hats. They are extremely cute and what’s great about them is you know they’ve been made by hand. This Varigated Plum Coloured Crocheted Beanie (£14) is bang on trend for this season with the purple shades that are in it.
If you love all things kitsch, then this Slice of Lemon and Chocolate Cake necklace (£7.99) or this Pink Heart Parasol necklace (£6.99) will be right up your street.
Ray’s vintage inspired necklaces are gorgeous and this Puffed Heart necklace (£18) looks just like an antique piece.
