Bourjois launches false eyelash range
Bourjois, the French brand that grew from just theatrical greasepaint to high-street make-up. Quietly getting on with it and expanding with casual French insouciance, the brand still retains some of its theatrical roots with rainbow-coloured packaging and imaginative advertising campaigns.
We’ve had a childish fascination with them ever since their TV advert for Coup de Theatre mascara in the early noughties, a psychedelic black and white affair to the sounds of exercise video instructions “now stretch… and lift”.
The brand’s latest venture is a range of false eyelashes. Named Faux and Fabulous, the range includes a spiky Rock Chick, a More Volume style with, you guessed it, more volume and our favourite, a very Parisian Lady in Black, complete with black gemstones. Smoky Eyes channels Bardot with thick criss-cross lashes and an eyeliner effect and Miss Couture, created in collaboration with Paperself, has a fashion-forward laser-cut lace effect.
Although the market is saturated with false eyelashes, the Bourjois’ fans base will surely appreciate its signature style enough to choose some eccentric French elegance over Girls Aloud and other competitors.
Priced from £5.99 to £10.99, they’re affordable as well.
Faux and Fabulous will launch mid-September with an additional range following next year.
