LFW – Lee Miller S/S 2013 collection at The University Women’s Club
Lee Miller launched his brand new SS13 collection to a small and select audience at The University Women’s Club in Audley Square, Mayfair. Guests included Jay Camilleri from Dirty Sexy Things and the quaintness of the show made it all that more anticipating for a patiently waiting audience.
Titled “Dr. Robert”, the theme behind the collection came from the movie Ciao Manhattan, where Edie Sedgwick visits the Dr Roberts surgery for vitamin shots. Lee has managed to turn next season into such an experience making a completely intriguing collection.
Taking loungewear to brand-new heights of luxury, Lee successfully transformed basic designs into chic and pleasing garments. Using the “adrenaline” of fashion as a basis for his designs, lavish jersey was presented with a whole new take on luggage and accessories that gave you an instant excitable buzz. Dresses were key throughout with maxis being prominent, but all were complemented with a series of shirts, slips and suit style pieces. With no matching colour palette, the collection featured bright magenta alongside khakis and creams, but all had matching accessories that were truly delightful to the eye.
Necklace bags were popular amongst guests, with a series of different skins being used and attached to lanyard-style chains around the models’ necks. Envelope bags were also displayed with detachable clips and a huge crocodile suitcase left an impressive mark on the whole collection.
We didn’t think that lounging about could ever be made glamorous, but next Spring the Dr. Robert collection will add a whole new and much needed element to being elegant whilst letting your hair down.
