LFW – Luna Sky S/S 2013 collection at the Westbury Hotel: behind the scenes and show
A truly beautiful Spring/Summer 2013 showcase designed by the lovely Luna Sky dazzled guests on Sunday evening at London Fashion Week. There was pandemonium among front-row guests awaiting the new season designs and the crowds certainly were not left disappointed.
Inspired by the 1950s, Luna’s work focused around her love for a Japanese cherry blossom called “Sakura”. The collection itself became based around cocktail dresses and gowns that can only be described as breathtaking. Opening the show, a voice-over described Luna’s work as “design for a beautiful lifestyle” and the elegance that followed proved just that.
With the first model’s entrance came a stunning gown, with a huge train and beautiful lilac lace. Puffballs and dip hem cocktail dresses followed in a whole host of pastel shades. Floral designs using laser-cut methods and pleating were key, with Swarovski crystals coating dresses in all the right places. Boob tubes and bodycon bodices were put with flowing skirts for models to float down the catwalk in magnificent style. Crystals on shoes and tassled arm accessories added an extra wow factor to all of the pieces, and even managed to make their mark within the stamen of the floral detailing. Ruffled peplums became delicate in a series of maxi dresses as colours moved into green and yellow.
The collection featured signature black and white dresses to reinforce Luna’s fashion trademark and gave an added sophisticated feel to the pieces. Black sequins dominated a midnight blue showstopper at the end and was completed with a shimming array of light blue crystals.
The colourful spring palette all came together into a rainbow of pastels at the end of the show and reinforced an exquisite collection by a very talented lady. Spring in Luna Sky’s world is a feminine one and we cannot wait to celebrate it with her.
