Norwich 2-5 Liverpool- Suarez inspires Liverpool to comfortable victory
Luis Suarez fired in a hat-trick as Liverpool finally earned their first win in the Premier League this season.
Finally, they have got the result that matches their performances as they comfortably beat Norwich 5-2 at Carrow Road.
Suarez got Liverpool off to a perfect start, when he cut inside and struck an effort along the ground and past John Ruddy in the Norwich goal.
Then came controversy. As Suarez ran through on goal, he was elbow-chopped from behind by Leon Barnett. It was a clear penalty to everyone in the ground. Well, everyone except the referee.
The Uruguayan then showed why he is such an enigma up front for Liverpool. The forward was put through on goal and missed by a country mile, but he didn’t let it phase him as he won the ball back and burst forward curling a sweet strike into the corner with the outside of his foot. Pure class.
Liverpool then went 3-0 up as Suarez burst through again, but this time, unselfishly, he passed for Nuri Sahin to tap in.
Norwich then pulled a goal back as Steve Morison pounced on another Pepe Reina gaffe to give Norwich some hope, but that was extinguished soon after as Suarez completed his hat-trick.
His shot from the edge of the box took a slight deflection off a Norwich defender and went in. Steven Gerrard then got in on the act with his second of the season with another deflected strike from the edge of the box.
There was still time for Grant Holt to power in his first goal of the season, but it was only a consolation. Liverpool were as rampant as Norwich’s defence was bad.
With this victory comes relief as finally Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers have their first league win and the foundations to build on this success.
Man of the Match: Luis Suarez, for scoring his second hat-trick of the year at Carrow Road. Norwich must be sick of the sight of the Uruguayan.
