Rebecca Minkoff S/S 2013 collection press day
The Friday morning autumn sunshine beamed down most appropriately onto Soho House for the launch of Rebecca Minkoff’s spring/summer 2013 ready-to-wear-collection. Brunch and beautiful bags were the topic on everyone’s lips, as guests enjoyed orange juice and croissants. On first glance, Rebecca’s collection oozed a much-needed feel of the new season with chic, elegant accessories, as well as exciting garments.
Inspiration for the collection was taken from the American photographer Slim Aarons, who is renowned for capturing celebrities from the poolside. Using the décor, fashion and art from that particular era, the clothing collection features bold patterns of tropical wallpapers and sun-bleached floral prints. Using the musical genius of the band Tennis, and combining it with the sounds of DJ Cassidy, you can imagine Rebecca’s thoughts when creating her collection. Her audio inspiration combined with the idea of such glamorous lifestyles in the 60s and 70s has allowed her to create her own modern day, sophisticated designs.
There was a hint of boyish shapes in dresses that we absolutely adored, as well as tasselled hems and oversized pieces that created a truly unique look. A rich palette of colour gave the excitement of summer in bags and accessories, including adorable sunglasses cases and camera bags that are to die for.
The collection also became host to a silver jewellery collection that will be exclusive to Selfridges and available to buy from November.
We cannot wait for Rebecca’s vintage American take on summer, so roll on 2013!
