Pop your collar with The Knit Kid!
The Knit Kid, an online shop on Etsy.com, makes everything from scarves to handmade coats using luxurious fabrics such as silk, alpaca, merino and mohair. “It’s knitwear with a hint of colour and a feel-good factor,” says The Knit Kid shop designer, Sabrina Weigt. This German designer started selling her colourful goods on Etsy in 2011.
The current collection is filled with bright pops of turquoise, pink, neon yellow, cobalt, and pastel items. There are so many fabulous hand-knitted items, we didn’t know where to start – from knit dresses and cosy sweaters, to rainbow hand-dyed scarves and knitted bright yellow mohair shorts. We are in love with the Knitted Collar, a collar necklace (£24) made from 100% cotton, with a tiny, delicate silver button fastening. It’s right on trend for this year’s bright colours and the collar necklace look. We also love the bespoke sweater section. For £203, you can pick from a list of colours and have Sabrina knit you your own personal colour block sweater, another piece right on trend. For the winter season fast approaching we suggest the Knit Sweater Jacket (£710). This double layered beige and grey coat is made from 100% wool (on the outside) and merino/angora yarn (on the inside). It keeps you so warm that you’ll want to keep your other coats in storage.
Each piece is made after payment is received, and can take up to five weeks. So if you see something you like, order it ASAP. Remember the holiday season is coming up, and these items would make fabulous gifts. To see the whole collection, check out The Knit Kid’s website here.
