What comes to mind when you think of the beautiful countryside of Devon? Fresh air? Freedom of space? Being born and bred in Devon, it was hard for the favourite holiday destination not to influence her. She says: “Devon has influenced me in so many different ways from colour, organic shapes and beauty, to the lifestyle in Devon. There is a strong balance of beauty and ease in Devon that I would say directly influences my designs even if I don’t intend it to!  We also manufacture as much as we can here in Devon, so when someone buys a piece from Abide, they are buying directly into a Devon-inspired and made piece! What could make a brand more pleased?”

After working for a wedding dress designer, Kim still needed to fulfil her dream of becoming a designer, and though it’s still early days in the talented designer’s career, already she has branched out to New York and Scandinavia, and has her clothing in boutiques around the country.

“My favourite piece is still the Wendy Dress from our very first collection.  It’s a navy blue silk dress that nips you in at the waist with a lovely bow. I wear it all the time, be it in the office, at a wedding or to after work drinks! My three sisters are all kitted out in the dress too!”
