Pudsey Bear with a designer twist!
It has come to the time of year again when we are graced with the familiar face of the yellow bear called Pudsey. His cheery face and polka dot eye patch has been the face of the charity Children In Need since we can even remember. However, this year, we are witnessing Pudsey with a bit of a twist.
Thirty designer labels have come together in 2012 for the BBC’s Children In Need appeal. From Alexander McQueen to Prada, Louis Vuitton to Henry Holland, designers have created one-off teddy bears that will be auctioned off at Christie’s on 15th November. The idea, curated by Love Magazine editor, Katie Grand, will allow all of the auction proceeds to go to the famous charity.
From the horse riding Gucci Pudsey, to the signature Erdem floral print, Pudsey has had a make over that most of us could only dream of. Henry Holland managed to create his bear out of Swarovski crystal and Mongolian goat trim and Giles Deacon used £20,000 of crystals for his charity masterpiece.
All of the bears that have been created will be showcased at Selfridges in both London and Manchester until 14th November. As well as this, Paul Smith, Anya Hindmarch and Selfridges are all releasing smaller designs of their own bears, which will be available to buy in the store from 24th October.
