Alimonada: make good and do good
Alimonada is a brand that makes good but also does good. Heidi, the designer behind the brand, moved to New York last year and started making the jewellery as a hobby, but after receiving lots of positive feedback, Heidi decided to start a small shop in February of this year.
All the jewellery is handmade in Heidi’s Brooklyn studios. She started off as a fashion designer for retailers like Urban Outfitters and Forever 21, but decided jewellery was the path she wanted to explore more.
We asked Heidi who she would most like to see wearing a piece of the Alimonada jewellery, “Alexa Chung is my fashion icon so it would be a dream to see her wearing Alimonada.” Alimonada is a brand that cares; 10% of profits go to Casa da Graca (Grace House), a temporary shelter for girls from under-privileged families in Brazil. If their families are unable to provide adequate living conditions for their children due to poverty, neglect, abandonment or abuse, a local judge places them in Grace House. Heidi visited the shelter back in January and said: “It really got me and became a big part of my heart.”
Alimonada will ship its jewellery worldwide, so there is no excuse not to liven up your jewellery box with a few treats. The jewellery is unique and unlike anything available on the high street, but that doesn’t mean the prices are extortionate; they are reasonably priced and if you spend over $50, shipping is free, worldwide! So get all your friends something they will love for the holidays this year! You will also make a difference to the girls in Brazil’s Grace House. What’s not to love!
