Lady Antebellum – On This Winter’s Night
Preparing for Christmas well ahead of anyone else, the country pop music group Lady Antebellum have put together their renditions of classic festive tunes. Active since 2006, the band originate from Nashville, having their roots deep within the sounds of country. Since then they have notched up a fair amount of awards along the way, from Grammys to those from the Academy of Country Music. Their new album won’t be winning them more awards, but the understanding is that it was made as a way of revelling in holiday cheer.
A Holly Jolly Christmas opens with a bouncy rhythm that is tinged with notes of country, establishing the band’s preference to stick to what they know, but in a flawless effort. Their version of All I Want for Christmas Is You isn’t as jovial and lively as Mariah Carey’s, but the soulful style in which it has been made still evokes the same nostalgia and longing from the listener.
Songs such as On This Winter’s Night and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas are beautifully crafted tracks that are gentle, providing audible warmth for listeners as they spend their holidays with loved ones. The album seems to come together rather well, and includes all the tracks from their previous Christmas themed EP A Merry Little Christmas.
Whether you’re a fan of the band, first time listener or preparing to get into a merry mood, this album should be a lovely addition to your celebrations.
