James Long’s exclusive knitwear range for Topman
Launching online this week, high street favourite Topman introduce their knitwear collection designed exclusively by knitwear specialist James Long. Crew neck jumpers and the cardigan designs sport a range of off-beat and quirky features, including multicolour tartan and over-sized polka dots.
The renowned designer drew inspiration for his knitwear from some of the music world’s leading front men: Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones, Bobby Gillespie of Primal Scream and even the Bay City Rollers (must be the tartan) served as inspiration for his “mashed up” aran knits. The seven-piece range uses premium materials, including British yarn, and has been made in the UK in keeping with Long’s British roots. Some pieces have been entwined with Lurex to give an added glam rock look to the capsule collection.
James Long has been turning heads in the fashion world for the past few seasons. He is a personal favourite of Lanvin’s Menswear designer Lucas Ossendrijver. After climbing from Topman-sponsored MAN show to NewGen Men and recently honoured with the BFC Fashion Forward award, Long is now a mainstay at London Collections: Men.
