Pure talent and passion from Jenny Sweetnam
Sometimes a designer comes along and really wows you with what they create. Things so spectacular that their raw talent itself needs to be applauded. That is exactly what we want to do with the brilliant Jenny Sweetnam.
After graduating from Edinburgh College of Art, Sweetnam started making her luxury statement body pieces, that “define bold, sculptural silhouettes. Hand forming in silver, textile, gold and wood.” All of those words just sound delicious in a sentence.
Recently showcasing her beautiful A/W 2012 collection at London Top Drawer, success is obviously inevitable and already she has her spot at the next London Top Drawer. With inspirations like Issey Miyake, Pina Bausch, Fannie Schiavoni, Fred Butler, Suno and Tom Robbins, Sweetnam has great taste to start with, and you can tell just by looking at her magnificent creations.
Asking Jenny what her main aim is, she answered: “To make brilliant, innovative accessories from great materials designed to last. I want to make unusual exciting things that people love to wear and feel great wearing.” You can tell she has already succeeded in that aim.
With her exciting new S/S13 collection coming out, international stockists and more people wearing Jenny Sweetnam, the future is certainly looking for bright.
She also stated how much she loves what she does, that, “Each day having a job that allows me such creativity and the chance to fulfil my passion for designing and making.”
With such passion, talent and beautiful designs, Sweetnam is clearly someone to look out for. Here at The Upcoming, we have fallen head-over-heels for her work, and we think you will too.
If you want to see Jenny Sweetnam’s collection and even meet the lady herself for a chat, go and see her dazzling work at Top Drawer, January 13th-15th, London Earls Court. Stand J6.
