Sheila Johnson launches collection of luxury scarves
Sheila Johnson, co-founder of America’s BET Networks celebrates the launch of her very own collection of luxury scarves. The collection will be available from November 2012 in NYC specialty boutiques, select Neiman Marcus locations, and for the first time, through their website. “I’ve always had a tremendous interest in all of the arts and in particular, photography,” said Sheila Johnson. “Now I have the opportunity to share my vision, enthusiasm for nature and passion for photography by creating luxurious scarves that also function as ‘wearable art’.”
The charming collection of silky scarves was inspired by the world around Sheila. As a producer, philanthropist and artist, she digitally prints her beautiful nature and landscape photography onto her opulent Italian-made scarves. “Translating her photographs into wearable art and affordable luxury, Johnson uses rich, vivid colours to capture the joy, peace and beauty as seen through the lens of her camera.” The collection made in Prato, Italy, retails for £299 each and a portion of proceeds are donated to the Lady Salamanders – the first national all-women’s Street Soccer USA team. It aims to end homelessness through sports.
The Resort 2013 collection, available now, is inspired by what we find in our daily lives, the places we visit, in the people we meet and in the ideas they share with us. The scarf names like Joy, Solace, Caritas (Latin for Love), represent a soulful insight to the love that goes into each photograph used. For winter, we loved the Solace scarf that contains a gorgeous snowy winter scene covered in different shades of blue, grey and white, but to cheer us up from those long, gloomy winter days we couldn’t wait to get our hands on the Caritas with its bright flower petals in bright pops of pink, red and purple.
