Traffic People S/S13 press day
Traffic People, once again they have delivered a great collection for us to feast our eyes on. Held in their beautiful Brushfield Street store their new S/S13 collection was dotted around the shop, hung in different complimentary sections. Champagne and cupcakes were on hand whilst we browsed and we could even get our nails and make-up done.
All of these girly treats fit well with the new collection, as it really was an array of very pretty and feminine clothes. Reminiscent of the 1950s, the shapes are flattering with a mixture of prints, layering and fabric. Traffic People have obviously done their homework with regards to upcoming trends and have designed perfectly their take on the spring/summer 2013 season.
Detail is key to this collection and the majority of the garments are characterised with pockets and print. Babydoll dresses and playsuits were also reoccurring items and will be perfect for S/S13. In terms of print they have been quite daring, by using two equally loud patterns and creating a garment from both by using one crazy print as the front of the garment, with an equally elaborate print on the back. This was apparent with a lot of the pieces on display, including a maxi dress that used stripes, dots and teacups whilst remaining a very elegant piece.
Fabric was also a large factor, from silks and sheer to mesh and denim this collection really played around and embraced the use of materials and shapes. With layering of fabrics, fuller skirts and draping there is nothing mundane about this collection; even a basic T-shirt has a certain twist to it. In a palette comprising mostly of burnt orange, monochrome, yellow, green and grey we can’t wait for spring to arrive so we can feel like we’ve just stepped out of Mad Men.

The collection is available from February, but if you can’t wait that long they also have a great A/W12 collection, and you can shop for it here.
