Find the perfect gift from Elizabeth Pawle Illustration
Elizabeth Pawle is a UK-based illustrator, who mainly makes illustrated jewellery. Elizabeth started life as a journalist, but since having a baby in 2011, she began drawing more and now she does it full-time after realising that “people actually wanted to buy my work”.
The collection is all hand-drawn and hand-cut, meaning each piece is unique. The illustrations are drawn using Indian ink which helps to give a sharp black line and silhouette. Elizabeth told us that the inspiration for the collection “was taken mainly from nature and the animal world” and that she has “always been fascinated with awkward animals” such as bears and badgers, which she then put onto paper and created jewellery from. Simple landscapes, mountains, ice flows and snowscapes are also seen throughout the collection.
Elizabeth describes her style as “quite naive” as she likes to use simple lines and marks for texture in her drawings, and also says, “It helps to give each piece a personality”.
Most recently, a line of wooden jewellery was introduced, painted with acrylics and gouache, and varnished, which allows Elizabeth to use colours such as turquoises, peppermint greens and vivid yellows alongside the black markings present in her previous work. It gives the collection a nice balance and makes it interesting.
When asked, Elizabeth said that she likes her work “to be simple and uncluttered” and we are sure a lot of people will love the finished products.
Elizabeth’s jewellery is the perfect gift for someone who likes unique and unusual things. You can find Elizabeth on Etsy, Facebook and Twitter.
