Natural Beauty Yearbook 2013 launch party
Having begun in 2007 and being an instant hit, the Natural Beauty Yearbook launched its 6th annual hotlist for 2013 last night. Hosted by Melvita in Kensington High Street Whole Foods Market, the “Top 25 who’s who in natural beauty” was unveiled.
Organic and natural beauty products have been on the rise for many years and now they are widely sourced, sampled and credited worldwide. The evening was a chance to celebrate the people in the industry creating their own natural brands, or fighting for their share of the market against the bigger mainstream companies.
The room was brimming with people dedicated to the cause of making organic products and sharing their ideas of a more idealistic image of beauty. It’s no wonder that last year’s top 20 has had to change to 25, just to cater for the wonderful production and growth of the industry.
In at the number one spot was Janey Lee Grace, a natural beauty advocate renowned and admired for her love of everything green and eco-friendly; her name at the top was well earned. Janey gave an impressive speech on her knowledge of natural beauty and how she was overjoyed to be awarded something with great relevance. She was very gracious, explaining that she wouldn’t dream of making her own products because they wouldn’t match up to how great everyone else’s are.
In second place were Carol and Paul Richards, co-directors of Herbfarmacy. Having spent over 25 years in the trade, this duo was an excellent runner up. Brothers Alex and Kim Barani nabbed the third spot; their help in bringing health products onto shelves makes them somewhat a revelation in the industry.
The evening was successful and showed just how important organic products are in the beauty industry. It’s important to remember the smaller brands, as they are more likely to be kind to our skin and to support the growing array of companies that are helping the environment.
