Cheap Monday’s Glow in the Dark London launch
What an iconic date to mark the London launch of Swedish brand, Cheap Monday’s Limited edition Glow in the Dark collection on 12th December 2012.
Fashion-goers of all sorts gathered at the brand’s flagship Carnaby Street store last night to celebrate the launch of their unique designs.
The theme matched the collection’s lucent traits, and guests were encouraged to visit the free bar (don’t mind if we did) and drank from luminous cups, while listening to the mix of ultra-cool DJs. The over-flowing and bustling party spread out onto London’s notorious Carnaby Street last night, with the floors of both stores jam-packed with Cheap Monday admirers.
Limited pieces took centre stage within the store, with the collection’s main pieces strapped to a wiry display. The design team described their inspiration for the collection as “old school futuristic technology with a sense of naive and childish magic”. Influenced by dark winter Scandinavian nights, the aim is to lighten up this drab season by creating a wearable but still quirky aspect to an otherwise safely, stylish look.
This six-piece collection infuses the brand’s usually iconic twists, such as ripped skinny jeans with this glowing element. Other items from this limited series include unisex t-shirts and shoes, as well as accessories such as tote bags and a wallet, all of which were being sold during the event and are either completely glow-in-the-dark, or feature bright prints and details. As the store event came to a close, dedicated party people, “zooked” up on a concoction of ginger beer and vodka, fled to the after party in a nearby car park, where the after dark festivities continued early into the morning.
If you want to be a part of the glowing crowd (and never get lost in the dark again) the collection is available online and in pop-up shops now until 20th December.
