The romantic and grunge world of The Lazy Ones
Creative and stylish duo Nat Colom and Diego Tellez, aka The Lazy Ones, formed their women’s fashion label, Des Moines, in 2001. Their quirky and eye-catching designs created with unusual fabrics and vintage haberdashery led to their ever-growing success and the opening of their first flagship store in London’s trendy district of Shoreditch in 2004.
Their bold, eclectic and effortless designs have been contracted with some huge retail companies, including Topshop, and they have now launched into 40 stores in Japan. Not to mention their designs being worn by some of fashion’s finest: Alexa Chung, Kate Moss and Beyoncé to name a few.
Sourced and created in London, The Lazy Ones capture the essence of city life and the youth that they appeal to through their garments. With a very dark and neutral palette of black, burgundy and white, their textures and cut are what make these garments pop.
We fell in love with their Part Capsule collection – a tailored and almost futuristic ensemble that consists of very shapely and flattering pieces. This calf-length trench coat is 100% chiffon and is a real statement piece; the oversized fit makes it very chic and the black fabric makes it feel timeless.
With the tartan trend still strong, their tartan leggings with pockets would be a great investment, and contain elements of the also on-going grunge trend. If dressing gothic isn’t your style then there are also plenty of alternative pieces. Mohair jumpers could give you a retro twist, or lace tops and dresses could be worn for a more feminine look. Even a velour crop top or collar studded blouse wouldn’t go amiss.
