All I Want for Christmas is You – Mariah Carey

For all her diva ways it must be said Mariah Carey’s voice had the world singing in unison when she released the Christmas single All I Want for Christmas is You in 1994, reaching number two in the UK singles chart. It’s got everything needed to get the family in the festive mood with strong backing vocals, bell chimes throughout and lyrics that literally read like a word association game for the winter holiday. Strangely this song has a touch of R’n’B about it, and its up-tempo style and song meaning do not make it cheesy, unlike most Christmas songs.
