Move like Jagger with this seductive scent from L’Wren Scott
After successfully launching her fashion label and stealing the heart of The Rolling Stones’ front man Mick Jagger, designer L’Wren Scott has turned her very talented hand to the art of perfumery. Collaborating with perfumer Ralf Schwieger, the scent is the first to be released as part of Barneys New York limited edition designer fragrance collection.
The perfume, which carries the designer’s name, reflects the luxurious sophistication of her collection. Alongside floral notes, the fragrance contains scents of absinthe, star anise, coriander, mandarin, marigold, jasmine, clove buds and even curry and leather. “I wanted it to be mysterious, dark and sexy,” Scott says about the unisex fragrance. “It takes on its own personality, based on who is wearing it. It’s distinctive, but not overpowering.”
Inspiration for the perfume came from memories Scott has of visiting spice markets and old perfume shops. “It’s all about the mind and the eye, and traveling in your memories…to different countries and knowing that the first thing you are greeted with is this new amazing smell, which is a memory that stays with you.”
At the launch of her debut scent at Barneys, Scott, the self-confessed fragrance fanatic, explained how she has always wanted to go into fragrance and has been creating her own blends of essential oils since her late teens. After working with perfumer Schwieger, Scott says: “I learned a lot about the perfume families. Mine belongs to the Chypre family. From when you first spray it, it’s like a symphony—it changes and changes.”
The L’Wren Scott perfume is available now from Barneys New York or online at Barneys.com and will be available in selected UK stores spring 2013. Keep your eyes peeled as rumour has it Scott will soon be launching her own cosmetics brand too.
