Original recipe of the week: Boozy chocolate sauce

Original recipe of the week: Boozy chocolate sauce

Chocolate oozes luxury and extravagance: everything that we love to indulge in, this festive season.

Why not pimp your Christmas puddings, which can be anything from a cheesecake to a traditional Christmas pudding with our deliciously irresistible and incredibly easy-to-make chocolate sauce. No longer will you pine for custard or cream when you try this sauce on anything you fancy. If you wish to make a teetotal sauce, simply omit the alcohol and add a touch more crème fraîche to make it super delicious. A splash of vanilla extract wouldn’t go amiss also.

Boozy chocolate sauce

Serves 1 chocoholic or 8 hungry guests

Prep time/cook time: 5-10 minutes

What you will need:

200g bar of dark chocolate

6 tbsp half-fat crème fraîche

A pinch of rock salt

1 shot of Amaretto liqueur

What you need to do:

1. Place the chocolate into a saucepan and slowly heat until completely melted.

2. When melted, remove from the heat and add in the crème fraîche and Amaretto, and mix to combine.

3. Next add in the salt and season to taste. The salt will bring out the chocolate flavour and intensify the cocoa.

4. When completely combined the sauce is ready to go. To keep for later, place in the fridge, but if it hardens just blast in the microwave for about 20 seconds to re-melt. Choco-heaven.
