Best beauty buys for January 2013
When January comes around, more often than not, we are all in need of a change when it comes to beauty. Our make-up bags need a little re-vamp, our bodies deserve more moisture and we like to look fresh and ready for whatever comes our way.
With that being said, we have picked six of the best buys right now to shake up your make-up bag and beauty stash!
Starting with a cult classic, no woman should be without a tube of Elizabeth Arden’s 8 Hour Cream. This multi-purpose balm is a godsend for dry, chapped skin that we all may have developed during the cold, winter months. This intense moisture balm works wonders on the skin, cuticles, elbows and knees and gives the skin the moisture back that it needs.
Over the Christmas period, we also sometimes tend to get stuck in a make-up rut. Attending Christmas parties and New Year’s celebrations may have taken its toll on our skin, and we want to look as fresh-eyed as possible. With Benefit’s They’re Real mascara, you can do just that! This mascara is fantastic for really coating all the lashes individually and lengthening them to give you that wide-eyed effect which again, makes you look like you’re a little more awake than you actually are!
There’s no two ways about it, during the winter our skin needs all the moisture possible. Although Nuxe’s multi-purpose dry oil is fantastic on the ends of hair, applied to cuticles or added to a bath, this oil comes into its own when applied thinly over the skin overnight. Even for the oiliest of skins, this product is a dry oil and therefore leaves no greasy residue when you wake – only fresh and dewy skin.
Knowing that we are in January makes everyone a little more anxious for the weather to get a little warmer and to hear the words “spring” and “summer” again. Whilst that won’t happen for a few months, we can always trick our make-up bags into thinking so, by adding a pop of colour. A great way to do this is with a bright lip. Revlon’s Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Lovesick is the perfect hot pink stain and looks incredible with neutral eye make-up.
To finish off the skin, Xen Tan’s Absolute Luxe self tanner lotion is a fantastic self tanner that couldn’t look more natural. Applied the night before, this tan develops into a gorgeous warm shade, leaving your skin looking healthy and glowing which is perfect for a dull day in January.
To finish off, nothing screams affordable luxury like Essie nail polishes. Essie offer a fantastic shade range and a lot of the shades look gorgeous with any skin tone or even for any time of year. The shade Angora Cardi is a beautiful dusty rose pink and looks incredible at this transitional time of the year.
