Cara Delevingne is the campaign face of DKNY for spring 2013
British beauty Cara Delevingne has been named as the new campaign face of DKNY. Renowned fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier shot the SS13 ad campaign on the bustling streets of Manhattan. The location was chosen to reflect the vibrant spirit of the brand. “Our DNA is the pulse of the city”, DKNY explains, “for spring, the collection is captured with energy and attitude.”
The 20-year-old Delevingne is captured in a collection of outfits from the SS13 collection in a series of energetic poses. In one image she is dressed head-to-toe in white with a pristine coat, crisp shirt and jeans finished with a bumbag and a chic satchel with a gold buckle. A sportier look is achieved in another shot with a nod to the 90s in a mesh top and skirt combination, teamed with a rucksack and chunky white Beats by Dre headphones.
Other images reveal the diversity of DKNY’s SS13 range with a series of colour-blocked outfits including a vibrant yellow mac teamed with a coral shirt and racing stripe trousers, a yellow maxi dress with a red cross-body bag, a blue jacket tied around the waist and a blue baseball cap to finish the ensemble. Although there are many sporty 90s elements (camo dress, mesh sleeves and caps) to the collection, the campaign is brought into the 21st century with the inclusion of smartphones, designer headphones and laptops.
Delevingne, who was recently crowned Model of the Year at the British Fashion Awards, is in high demand as a campaign face for 2013 by luxury brands. Alongside DKNY, the model is also one of the stars of Burberry’s ad campaign alongside Romeo Beckham.
