Manolo Blahnik designs the creative for London Fashion Week
The New Year is upon us which means London Fashion Week is only a matter of weeks away. To whet our appetite, the British Fashion Council (BFC) has disclosed some exciting news about the creative for AW13.
Manolo Blahnik CBE, who received the Outstanding Achievement at this year’s British Fashion Awards, has been named as the designer collaborating with the BFC. Blahnik has designed exclusive imagery for the February 2013 showcase, which will be used on all print, marketing, digital and social media for the upcoming London Fashion Week. “This series of drawings represents some of the figures I adore and who have influenced my life and work.” Blahnik has taken the concept and creative from his world and made it into the backdrop of London Fashion Week.
The beautiful illustrations were inspired by Manolo Blahnik’s past and include key industry figures that have had a positive influence on his life. The inclusion of Manolo Blahnik in the creative for London Fashion Week is an ideal pairing as English women inspire his designs. “I like extreme girls and the combination of the poise, the grandeur and the beauty of English women. English women and their style inspire me tremendously,” Blahnik explained. The English women who embody these characteristics and are fans of Blahnik’s beautiful designs include US Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, model Kate Moss and fashion designer Victoria Beckham.
Caroline Rush, chief executive for the British Fashion Council commented: “We are so pleased to be collaborating with Manolo Blahnik… Manolo’s sketches are world-famous, and it will be both great fun and inspirational to see these displayed across London Fashion Week in February 2013.”
