Zero Dark Thirty tops the National Board of Review Awards 2013
Zero Dark Thirty, the opus for the decade-long hunt for Al-Qaeda terrorist leader Osama bin Laden, won the Awards for Best Film, Best Director (Kathryn Bigelow), and best actress (Jessica Chastain) during the prestigious National Board of Review Awards ceremony at Cipriani 42nd Street in Manhattan, New York, yesterday night.
The film also took Best Movie and Best Director at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards the night before, further increasing its chances for an Oscar next month.
Amongst the other winners at the National Board of Review Awards were Bradley Cooper, who was announced best actor for Silver Linings Playbook, and Leonardo Di Caprio, with best supporting role for Tarantino’s latest movie Django Unchained.
Meanwhile, Anne Hathaway grabbed Best Ensemble alongside Amanda Seyfried and Eddie Redmaine for Les Misérables. Ben Affleck took the Award for Special Achievement in filmmaking for the critically-acclaimed Argo, whilst Benh Zeitlin earned Best Directorial Début with Beasts of the Southern Wild.
Leonardo di Caprio and Anne Hathaway have also been rumored to be in with high chances for an Oscar this year. The Academy Awards ceremony (The Oscars) is scheduled for 24th February at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, LA, and will be hosted by Seth MacFarlane.
Amongst the other celebrities spotted at The National Board Of Review Awards ceremony were Angela Bassett, Chris Tucker, Daniel Craig, James Gandolfini and Tony Mendez.
