Lynx aftershave to send men to space. Yes, actual space!

Ten days after New Year’s Eve, another countdown began.

In a warehouse situated in a secluded area in south west London, spacemen, George Lamb, Daisy Lowe and a large group of guests partied the night away at the Lynx launch party.

After stepping on to the red carpet and getting snapped by the paparazzi, The Upcoming walked into a darkened room filled with artificial fog and a lit-up bar. Before acquainting ourselves with the aforementioned unlimited bar (serving wine, cocktails, beer and soft drinks), we had a photograph taken alongside “astronauts” dressed head-to-toe in authentic space suits.

Keeping with the space theme, popping candy and sherbet flying saucers were also offered alongside the traditional canapés as the host, George Lamb, welcomed the guests with a burst of energy and a few jokes.

Soon after, at ten seconds to 9pm, the countdown started where an announcement was to be made by an international name about the reason behind the Lynx event. As excitement grew, the lights dimmed further as an ample projection screen came to life, finally revealing the living legend – astronaut Buzz Aldrin.

The choice couldn’t have been more fitting as the second man on the moon spoke about a competition hosted by Lynx aftershave, which would send regular people to space, making them “leave a man, and come back a hero.” As cheers resounded across the room, a curtain was dropped to reveal the vehicle the lucky few would be flying in: a sleek space shuttle. But be warned, the training is vigorous – physically and mentally – and if your heart isn’t in it, Buzz himself advises you not to apply.

After the announcement, Daisy Lowe took over as DJ and the party officially began, with cosmopolitans and red wine circulating constantly throughout the room.
